Privacy Policy — Slimpiet

Slimpiet is a chat automation service operated by Carel Venter Websites (Pty) Ltd (registration number 2014/043082/07), based in Nylstroom (Modimolle), Limpopo, South Africa ("we", "us", "our"). Slimpiet provides automated responses to customer messages on behalf of small businesses ("business clients") via Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights available to you under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

1. Who this policy applies to

This policy applies to two groups of people:

• End customers — members of the public who message a business client's Facebook Page or WhatsApp number that uses Slimpiet.
• Business clients — the salons and small businesses who use Slimpiet to automate their customer messaging.

2. Information we collect

When an end customer messages a business client's connected Page or WhatsApp number, Slimpiet may process:

• The content of the message sent to the business (e.g. a question about hours, pricing, or bookings)
• The Facebook or WhatsApp identifier associated with the conversation, as provided by Meta's Messenger and WhatsApp Cloud APIs, used only to route and reply to the correct conversation
• Timestamps of messages, for conversation handling and quality review

From business clients, we collect and store business information supplied to us for the purpose of answering customer queries, such as operating hours, services, pricing, and booking policies.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information (such as health, financial, or biometric data) through Slimpiet's messaging function. End customers should avoid sharing sensitive personal information in chat.

3. How we use this information

Information is used solely to:

• Generate accurate, relevant automated replies to customer questions
• Maintain and improve the quality of Slimpiet's responses
• Provide business clients with a record of customer conversations conducted through their own Page or WhatsApp number

We do not sell personal information to third parties, and we do not use customer conversation content for advertising purposes.

4. Data separation between business clients

Slimpiet serves multiple, independent business clients. Each business client's information (business details and customer conversations) is logically separated in our systems and is not shared with, or accessible by, any other business client.

5. Third-party services

Slimpiet relies on the following third-party platforms to operate:

• Meta Platforms, Inc. — Facebook Messenger Platform and WhatsApp Business/Cloud API, used to send and receive messages. Meta's own data policies also apply to information passing through their platforms.
• Hosting infrastructure — our automation and database systems are hosted on a self-managed server used exclusively by Carel Venter Websites (Pty) Ltd.

6. Data retention

Conversation data is retained for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service to the relevant business client, or until the business client's use of Slimpiet ends, after which it is deleted within a reasonable period unless a longer retention period is required by law.

7. Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information held by us, and to object to our processing of it. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, and disclosure.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision.
